De mens, met haar bedrijvigheid, streeft naar eenzijdige waarden met vernietigende gevolgen. ‘Business As Usual’ is niet langer gewenst. Business schools wijzen onvoldoende op ideologie, ofwel welk soort problemen we met bedrijfskundige kennis willen oplossen en hoe.

Om aan te geven of er een spanningsveld bestaat tussen bedrijfskundige wetenschap en management praktijk, is het goed om eerst te kijken wat de rol van bedrijven is en wat de omgeving van hen verlangt. Daarmee kunnen we iets zeggen over de kwaliteit (fit) tussen de kennis, kunde en zienswijze die in de 21^ste eeuw van bedrijfskundigen verlangd wordt en zoals deze wordt onderwezen op de vele internationale business schools. Dit essay beschrijft waar we naar streven en wat we in dat streven vergeten. Het vervolgt te kijken naar waar dit toe leidt en waarom verandering noodzakelijk is. Tot slot zoomt het in op de rol en verantwoordelijkheid van het bedrijfskundig wetenschappelijk onderwijs.

Cradle to Cradle is a discovery that provides hope and enthusiasm for a lot of people I have met. There is a lot of energy and focus and people truly want Cradle to Cradle to become a success. I think implementing C2C in our products and activities requires a lot of joined effort. Experts of different fields are need to work together. A multidisciplinary approach is required. A lot of different networks of people are currently formed.

Social networking sites can be of help. Show the world you support the ideas of Cradle to Cradle by joining one or more of the C2C groups that are currently around. This is an easy way to seriously expand your network without adding everybody to your personal contact list.
